6:30 to 8:30 or whenever the band kicks us out.

Oh, how to explain what this evening was like???? We all expect Al's to be an unusual venue, but last night it was surreal. Around 7:30 we were invaded by about 30 pirates (that's right, pirates) in full costume. We stopped the music and gave them the floor for a few minutes so they could have a "Scarrrr" contest, with prizes for the most impressive scar. The judges graciously invited the tango dancers to participate if they wished, and so ofcourse, several did. The winner, according to the judges and crowd reaction, was, hands down.....a tango dancer. We won't say which one in case she doesn't really want the world to read about it. We continued dancing till around 8:45 when the heavy metal band arrived to set up. Tango. Pirates. Heavy Metal Band. Just another Saturday night at Al's.

Another 2nd Sunday at Victorian Square

Things are heating up in Lexington! Kelly was host while Lu Ann was away on business (though she did manage to attend a milong in Sacramento). Everyone was excited to see Patricia Ezcurdia and Monte Gross, our favorite globe-trotters. Patricia brought tango periodicals for us from Buenos Aires.

4th Annual Milonga at Highbridge

7 p.m. till 10 p.m.
Rain or Shine.Come dance Argentine Tango in a restored Victorian Dancing Pavilion at sunset overlooking the Kentucky River. Water and soft drinks will be provided. Event goes off rain or shine! The design of the pavilion keeps the floor well protected from the weather. DJ Lu Ann Pelle. Traditional Music. (OK, maybe one tanda of something alternative, just for kicks!)

Super turnout for this unique event, with lots of new faces amoung the 55 dancers. Two tables of food --thanks everybody! It was a beautiful evening. Note for next year: when the ceiling fans are turned up, the ladies skirts have a tendency to..... float upwards.
