What a fabulous milonga to start out the new year! Thanks to Kelly for playing host while Lu Ann was in Chicago on business....and she didn't even get to go to a milonga there....too much snow! An outstanding turnout, probably the biggest we've ever had. (Maybe Lu Ann should stay away more often.)

Ah, what a few twinkle lights can do! The studio sparkled and the new drapes really made the place feel elegant. Mary's new red shoes made all the other ladies' shoes jealous. Kelly's brother was in from Denver...always great to have another experienced lead, now isn't is ladies ??!! Students, guests, a van load of young people from Louisville, the "vieja guardia"........a great mix. Happy Holidays!

November 9, 2008

November LexTango 2nd Sunday Milonga at Victorian Square
5:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m., 401 W Main Street, Lexington, KY 40507

The only place in Lexington where you can dance Argentine Tango under the old-fashioned street lamps and still be inside! This month's milonga hosted by Ron and Judith Gariepy.

Good teachers and good friends are hard to find. Thank you Ron and Judy, for being both, and for taking responsibility for the 2nd Sunday Milonga while Kelly and Lu Ann were in Bloomington getting a dose of close embrace tango with Susanna Miller. Several beginning level students attended which always thrills us. You've got to dance to be able to "dance".

October 4, 2008

Linda and Louis Bailey hosted a milonga at their Richmond studio during the "Dan and Pier Weekend". Thanks guys!. Dan and Pier did an exhibition tango for us. A hard act to follow, no doubt, but we managed to dance till around midnight. Thank you to Ron and Judy for giving us the opportunity to study with these fabulous teachers. They have fallen in love with Kentucky, so hopefully, they'll be back!!

September 26, 2008

Cindy Hutchison hosted a free milonga at Dudley Square in the Yoga Studio after the Tami Tango Trio performed at Transylvania University. And, bonus!!! the performers showed up! Including dancers Claudia Marciano and Tony Saganias. Talk about an exciting evening! Even Eduardo Tami danced. (Monique, were you trying to make Claudia jealous??) Thanks to everybody who made the evening a success.

September LexTango 2nd Sunday Milonga at Victorian Square

A wild and WINDY afternoon! Alice saved the day by running home to get a splitter for the amp (Thanks, Alice!) and Kelly took time out from removing the HUGE tree that came down on his yard/house/driveway (Thanks, Kelly!) to help set up, before going back to chainsaw duty. All's well that ends well.

August 27, 2008

LexTango Milonga at (the new! ) Natasha's Bistro
7 p.m. till 10 p.m.

No cover. But management appreciates it when we eat and drink. Gene and Natasha are moving the boutique to the corner storefront, and the size of the restaurant will double. Walls are coming down! Good news for Tango Dancers. How hip can one place be? See www.beetnik.com.

Welcome back, Ron and Judith! Thank you to our servers at Natasha's...it's challenging to keep up with us...we don't stay in one place!! One couple that came to observe was celebrating their 25th anniversary. Harold gave them some pointers.

August 17, 2008

LexTango 2nd Sunday (but really the 3rd Sunday for August) Milonga at Victorian Square
5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The only place in Lexington where you can dance under the old-fashioned street lamps and still be inside! Primarily Traditional Argentine Tango music with some Nuevo and Alternative music as well. Lu Ann DJs. DeSha's Restaurant and Bar, The Chase and Brooklyn Pizza are all open before, during and after the Milonga.

We were featured on the home page of LetsDanceLex (thanks, Mark!) for August. That helped seven or eight new people "discover" us. We missed you Dwight (and Lynda!). Get better soon. Four people from Cincinnati made the drive. Thank you Rita for hemming the table cloths! And Kelly as always for carrying the big amp!

July 25, 2008

Psssst! Meet at Al's Bar, 6th and Limestone, at 6:30 this Friday, July 25th. We'll clear away the tables and dance Argentine Tango till 8:30. It's OK, the Management knows were going to do it! In fact, they WANT us to do it! Music will be some traditional and alot of nuevo and alternative....cause it's that kind of place.

What kind of place? Some Al's Bar virgins showed up to find out! OK, so maybe the booths could use some new vinyl, but Al's is the up and coming hot spot where the hip, the artistic, the political and the poetic of old and new Lexington come together for discourse over cheap food. So why not Tango?
