Come dance Argentine Tango in a restored Victorian Dancing
Pavilion at sunset overlooking the Kentucky River. "An
unforgettable evening!"
Water and soft drinks will be provided.

Bring a snack to share if you wish. Many people do, and we usually
have
quite a spread.
Event goes off rain or shine! The design of the pavilion keeps
the floor well protected from the weather.

just for kicks!)

About Highbridge Park
High Bridge, 280 feet above the Kentucky River, was the first
cantilever bridge in North America and was for many years the
highest, and longest, rail road trestle in the world. From the
beginning, the bridge lured sightseers, and soon a park was
established nearby with picnic grounds, a restaurant, a dancing
pavilion and riding stables. Trainloads of people from Lexington,
Cincinnati, and points north disembarked at High Bridge for
recreation, sightseeing and dancing. The Victorian Dancing Pavilion
was considered the finest outdoor pavilion in the country. It
was known in the 40's as the "Dance Hall" and the
site of weekly Saturday night dances. It fell into disuse in
the later part of the 20th century, but has been faithfully
rebuilt in recent years.
High Bridge is no longer the world's highest bridge, but it
is still heavily used for rail commerce. It is the busiest north-south
route in the nation. It is a double track, and it is not uncommon
to catch both a northbound and a southbound train crossing high
above the river at the same time. An observation platform gives
outstanding views of the Kentucky River and Dix River gorges
and the Kentucky palisades.
The milonga takes place at sunset, so you'll have ample opportunity
to enjoy the views.
